We’re thrilled to announce a powerful and purposeful new partnership between PA Inclusive and Kutztown University — a collaboration rooted in a shared mission of empowerment, opportunity, and inclusive growth for individuals of all abilities.

On Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, this partnership reached an inspiring milestone as Dr. Carl Sheperis, Vice Provost at Kutztown University, visited Coffee Inclusive — PA Inclusive’s innovative café and workforce training hub in Pittston, PA. In a ceremony surrounded by proud families, staff, and community supporters, Dr. Sheperis awarded Workforce Development Certificates to students graduating from the Inclusive Training & Employment Program (ITEP). Each student also received a digital badge, a portable electronic credential that not only honors their accomplishments but also showcases their workforce readiness in a format that can be shared with future employers.

This moment represents more than the awarding of credentials — it’s a celebration of perseverance, inclusion, and the transformative power of partnerships. It highlights what can happen when a university and a community organization come together to bridge opportunity gaps and invest in the strengths of individuals who are often underrepresented in traditional workforce development programs.

ITEP is a cornerstone program at PA Inclusive, designed to provide customized workforce training and career support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism, and other diverse abilities. Through this program, students develop crucial job skills, gain confidence, and receive individualized coaching to help them prepare for and succeed in meaningful employment. The curriculum includes hands-on training, workplace communication, customer service, and soft skills — all delivered in an environment built on dignity, respect, and inclusion.

This partnership also reflects national trends in workforce development. According to the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), inclusive programs that offer skills-based training, clear credentialing, and real employment outcomes are critical for expanding economic mobility and building resilient communities. Universities play a key role in this effort by lending their resources, recognition, and reach to programs like ITEP.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, their families, and the dedicated staff who supported them along the way. Your accomplishments inspire us and remind us of the power of community.

Here’s to new opportunities, shared success, and a future where everyone has the chance to thrive.
